How is Sculptra different from regular fillers?Regular fillers deliver immediate volume by adding substances like hyaluronic acid, whereas Sculptra's PLLA ingredient stimulates the skin's own collagen production. The key difference is that, rather than looking artificial, it produces natural-looking volume that builds up over time—as if your own tissue were gradually filling in.
When do results appear, and how long do they last?Right after the procedure, the area may appear more voluminous due to water content, but this is absorbed within a few days and the area briefly returns to its original state. From around 4 to 6 weeks after treatment, your own collagen begins to form, gradually building volume and elasticity. Results vary by individual but typically last 2 years or more.
How many sessions and what interval do you recommend?To allow enough collagen regeneration within the skin for a satisfying volume result, we generally recommend 3 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. However, the exact number of sessions may be adjusted based on your physician's diagnosis, depending on your degree of volume loss and skin thickness.
Are there any side effects, such as nodules (lumps), after the procedure?To prevent nodules, it's essential to fully and evenly hydrate (dissolve) the PLLA ingredient before the procedure, along with the physician's precise technique in injecting it evenly at the correct layer. Following the 5-5-5 massage guideline provided after the procedure (5 times a day, 5 minutes each, for 5 days) also helps prevent nodule formation.
Precautions after treatment
To prevent infection at the injection sites, please wait at least 2 to 3 hours after the procedure before gently washing your face or applying light makeup.
Mild bruising, swelling, or slight pain may occur after the procedure but typically resolves naturally within a few days. If swelling is significant, a light cold compress on the first day can help.
To allow the injected material to settle properly and prevent inflammation, please avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot baths, and strenuous exercise that causes heavy sweating for one week after the procedure.
To avoid disrupting skin regeneration, we recommend refraining from alcohol and smoking for at least one week.
To prevent pigmentation at the treated area, apply sunscreen thoroughly whenever going outside, and use extra moisturizing cream to keep the skin from drying out.
