Radiesse Q&A
How is Radiesse different from conventional fillers or other skin boosters?Conventional fillers create volume by filling and expanding empty spaces, while conventional skin boosters primarily provide temporary hydration. Radiesse, on the other hand, is a “Skin Quality Matrix Regeneration” treatment that helps regenerate the skin’s structural framework through CaHA.
Since it contains calcium, won’t it harden or form lumps under the skin?No. Radiesse consists of highly refined, extremely fine, spherical microparticles. Through Lieul’s specialized hydration and dilution techniques, the particles are evenly distributed throughout the dermal layer, allowing them to integrate smoothly without creating lumps or a foreign-body sensation and helping replace compromised tissue with soft, supple, resilient tissue that feels like your own skin.
When do the effects appear, and how long do they last?Immediately after treatment, you may notice firmer-looking skin as the dermal matrix receives structural support. From approximately 4 weeks onward, collagen and elastic fibers begin to be produced more actively. Thanks to the newly regenerated autologous matrix tissue, the improved skin density and radiance can continue for more than a year, even after the product has been completely broken down.
Is Radiesse really safe enough to have no concerns?Yes. The CaHA used in Radiesse has received FDA approval in the U.S., with its safety validated worldwide. After completing its role in stimulating cellular regeneration, it is fully biodegraded through the body’s normal metabolic processes into calcium and phosphate ions and eliminated, resulting in an extremely low risk of delayed nodules or other long-term adverse effects.
Precautions after treatment
For at least 1–2 weeks, avoid acupressure or facial massage that strongly presses or compresses the treated area, as well as at-home skincare devices such as galvanic or radiofrequency devices.
Minor redness, swelling, bruising, or needle marks may occur after treatment. These are natural responses that can occur as the dermal layer undergoes remodeling and generally resolve on their own within approximately one week.
Avoid excessive alcohol consumption, smoking, saunas, jjimjilbangs, hot baths, and strenuous exercise.
Be sure to apply sunscreen thoroughly and keep the skin adequately moisturized with a hydrating or regenerative cream to prevent excessive dryness.
